Rust

RUST
by R.D. Snow (Dec 2019)

I smelled it again
When we were together
But I wasn't sure what it was
Until now
The ingredients of rust
Oxygen, water, and time

I felt it when you sat me down
And cleared the dust in the air
Through the wind, the tears, and the longer years
Acknowledging our lack of shine
