GROWING
by R.D. Snow (Jan 2020)
(a Palindrome)
Flowers of feast
Yellow, lavender, pink
Hours dripping rain, morning
Rose of scents, calming
Sunshine savory afternoon
Fresh, warm, blooming
Petals falling carefully
Slow fading night
Love on hold
Echoes of light
Breathe to live
Courage
Live to breathe
Light of echoes
Hold on love
Night fading slow
Carefully falling petals
Afternoon savory sunshine
Blooming, warm, fresh
Calming scents of rose
Morning rain dripping hours
Pink, lavender, yellow
Feast of flowers

Writer’s Comments:
A palindrome is when it is spelled the same backward as forward, like “race car”. So for this poem you’ll notice that once you get to the middle word “courage” then it starts to go in reverse. This was a requirement for an online poetry contest (no actual prize) and I won first place among a handful of other great poets!
“What’s in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”
